I can’t help myself.  I’m gonna send you to Bonanza Jellybean’s blog to read the “When she’s on Springer...“ entry.  I found it highly amusing and I am thoroughly in support of her reaction (action taken) to the whole thing.

I know we sometimes argue, and

Okay, okay… I know, it sucks… The end line is totally off.  So, I’m not a poet.  But when I read it, this is what I really thought (felt). 

FYI… “brat” is a term of endearment.  We don’t use it negatively with our daughter.  We do call her a “brat” to her face when teasing her in good humor. 

A teen author named Nicholas Gordon wrote this poem. 

I know we sometimes argue, and

Tonight I have a headache.  It came from arguing with my husband over a confrontation I had with our kid.  I’m tired now, depressed just a little bit too.  I ache a lot, everywhere.  Did I overreact as a mom? Maybe.  Does it mean I should simply not act at all in the future.  No.  This poem I"m going to print out and tape to the back of my bedroom door (where I can look upon it daily).  It will help me develop the more laid back approach to raising a teenager my husband wishes me to develop.  Maybe I will even begin to believe my kid thinks I’m a “better mom.“

DMM’s birthday was yesterday and we got so wrapped up in taking care of family business and errand running that I forgot to post.  Ooops, sorry…

It’s nice to be back and functional.  Between the overwhelmed server from the past service to migrating to our new service provider it’s been impossible to put up entries for two weeks.

The kiddo is in school and has three classes (I think it’s three) we her local best friend this year.  Her World History teacher is an acquaintance of mine, so Open House night should be interesting.  She is loving her new job and they seem to love her. 

I’ve decided Melvin is has a ghetto-cat mentality.  It’s all about “The Rep” and Macho factor.  In other words when he thinks he is being watched (especially by other cats in the house) he doesn’t want to appear to be cooperative or cuddle worthy.  He is now a growly cat, but will sit in your arms or next you, no move away or protest being petted any other way than a low volume growl.  Just to let all who are watching know, he is in charge, thus keeping his rep of “vicious predator” in tact.

Les has been offered a new job with benefits and a little more money.  We are happy about that ... Interestingly enough, despite all the warnings his old job has managed to hold on to him, this long.  I think next week is his last week with them and then he begins working the new job.  Smooth transitions and no lapse in pay checks is VERY nice.

I’m still here.  That’s all I can say about myself, personally right now.

Today, My husband is thirty nine years young.  Unfortunately, he is at work:-(  Pooh!  But, he has some “loot” waiting for him at home and we are going out to dinner for a steak! 

I Always Have Some More Of The Month Left.

The story of our lives, lol!  Hubby didn’t get the job he interviewed for, but there are a possible two new positions that he is attempting to apply for…  His current job is still trying to hold on to him as long as possible (flouting Corporate Decree as long as possible).  Hence, he is still working and may end up finishing off the month of August, giving us a full paycheck on Sept 10 for his last paycheck. 

Daughter is working her first job as of yesterday.  Her hours are T/Th 4 hours and Sat 8 hours for the Township Library.  She is a library “Page.“ 

Paid bills.

Still have a couple auto debits before last paycheck, beginning of school costs, gasoline and some other odds an ends.  Will it stretch?  I’m pulling the shit outta the dough to try:-)

Husband’s birthday (8-25) - He is feeling less than enthused and “really really old” (or so he says).  However, we will visit The Momma’s house for a celebration and have one here.

Nephew’s birthday (8-27) - We bought his present(s) at KB Toys yesterday in the mall.  I’ll wrap’em, box’em and mail’em soon. 

Our one car needs all new tires and possibly brake work.

Husband’s working days are numbered at current job.  We’re not sure if he has a week or two left.  They haven’t given him a solid end date.  No word yet on last week’s interview for him and I still haven’t gotten any calls in regards to my own resumes.

Cats NEED cat food.

I have a ton of laundry to get done, lol.

Bills need to be paid.

Kiddo’s closest in-town friend is coming to spend a day tomorrow.

This coming Saturday we will celebrate daughter’s birthday with my family. (She celebrated with husband’s family two weekends past and her McCormick family last week while camping).

Next Monday, her best friend is coming out here to spend the night.

August 30 is kiddo’s “Registration and School Pictures Day.“

Wednesday, September 6, she returns to school for a half day.  Thursday, September 7 is a full day, but Tuesday and Friday of that week has teachers only for HS.  Monday, 9/11 -9/15 is her first full week of school for the 06/07 academic year.

Actually, yesterday was her real birth date.  However, we were out all day with daughter’s boyfriend, best friend and daughter, herself at Great Lakes Crossing.  Kids got some Game Works time in, a movie, a lot of mall “hanging out” and we took them to a Bennigan’s Resaturant on the way home.

I think all in all she had a lot of fun and, most importantly, she had all day to spend time with her closest friends who live far away.

Maybe…

I hate days like this…

But that’s okay, they know me here.

Which is why I prefer to stay here.

Two Deaths [causes = 1 (illness and age) + 1 (motorcycle accident)]

Sis having problems (could be: fluid around a lung or gall bladder or liver)

Parents left for NC to see Sister, Amber at Fort Bragg.  Actually, when the army came to get her stuff (She left a week before they came to retrieve her boxes to be with husband in their new home on Fort Bragg); Dad forgot about the stuff in the garage.  So Dad and Mom rented a minivan to drive tool chest, climber and other miscellaneous stuff to NC.

SEB job interview @ Noon on Wednesday

May attend a funeral on Thursday (may not.. can not afford to have SEB miss days of work left).

Gas prices going up up up and crazy.  However, I am glad Alaska is being responsible about the leakage.

Supposed to be low humidity and cool for at least two days.. then the rains come back and then “who knows?“

Not enough money, per usual, to stretch the month and all the demands: funeral flowers, birthdays, back to school, bills, medical needs (teeth falling apart in both my mouth and SEB’s), gasoline, food, other groceries, etc.
